Regional Roundabouts
PennDOT is incorporating roundabouts in projects throughout PennDOT's Engineering District 12-0 region of Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties in western Pennsylvania.
Route 981 at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport
Westmoreland County
This roundabout opened to traffic in fall 2017. This single-lane roundabout serves as the intersection of Route 981 and the new airport entrance. This roundabout design is similar to the roundabouts proposed for Route 981, Section Q20 of the LVTIP.
New Stanton I-70 Interchange
Westmoreland County
The new interchange at New Stanton on Interstate 70, which includes three roundabouts, opened to traffic in February 2017. All three are single-lane roundabouts offering seamless movement from the I-70 interchange throughout the local roadway network.
Route 519
Washington County
Two, dual-lane roundabouts on Route 519 near Eighty-Four, PA opened in 2015. These roundabouts were implemented to improve safety at two closely spaced intersections.
